Pembahasan kali ini akan fokus pada Simple present tense. Simple present tense termasuk pada kelompok present tense, yaitu tenses yang menyatakan sesuatu yang sedang terjadi ketika ini atau sekarang. Selain simple present tense yang termasuk present tense yaitu Present Continuous Tense, Present Perfect Tense, Present Perfect Continuous Tense. Dalam Bahasa Inggris kalimat setiap tenses sanggup mempunyai tiga bentuk yaitu kalimat positive, negative dan interrogative.
Rumus simple present tense yaitu sebagai berikut:
Positive (+) : S + V1 (s/es) + O/C
Negative (-) : S + do/does + not + V1 + O/C
Interrogative (?) : Do/does + S + V1 + O/C +?
Contoh bentuk kalimat simple present tense positive, negative dan interrogative yang sanggup kita gunakan diantaranya yaitu sebagai berikut:
